Community assessment group presentation – must be related to
There are many medical facilities in this region, including urgent care centers and doctor offices. Although I am unable to comment on each individual facility’s physician staff, there are indications that they generally represent the ethnicity of the community. The American Medical Association Journal of Ethics recently conducted a study that found physician representation of underrepresented ethnic and racial backgrounds has increased in recent times. So, for example, Black-American or African-American doctors increased by 4.2% to 8.8% in the period 2002 to 2015, while Mexican-American doctor numbers rose from 5% up to 7%. These data suggest that healthcare providers are more diverse and reflect the local population. It is important to note that there are still gaps due to differences in educational opportunities among different racial/ethnic backgrounds.
