1. What’s a triglyceride, you ask?

The triglyceride is one type of fat that consists of three fatty acid molecules connected to glycerol. This forms an ester link. Triglyceride is both the primary fat and the one that humans store, thus making it an important form of energy storage. Triacylglycerols, or TAGs are other names for triglycerides.

2. What does it mean if your low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL), is too high?

An elevated level of LDL cholesterol can indicate an increase in risk of heart disease. High blood levels can lead plaque buildup, which eventually blocks the arteries and can result in serious health problems like stroke or heart attack. An increase in LDL cholesterol levels can lead to an increase of triglyceride, further increasing the danger of heart disease. High levels of LDL cholesterol do not necessarily mean that you will get heart disease. Genetics are also important.
