Walden University – Ebp – NURS 6052 – Fundamentals of Evidence-Based Practice| NURS 6052 – Essentials of Evidence-Based Practice | Walden University

Each of the four peer-reviewed articles were based on primary research, systematic reviews and other types of evidence. One paper, which was qualitative and based on interviews of nurses that provided insights into palliative-care experiences. It falls under primary research since it collects firsthand data. Comparatively, the second paper involved a retrospective observational research that was conducted through the examination of medical records. It can be classified secondary evidence as it draws on already available data for analysis.

While the third article utilized quantitative research methods to examine patient views towards end-of–life care, it was another instance of primary research. Meanwhile, the fourth article combined multiple studies about spiritual needs at death. This review provides detailed information on how interventions impact outcomes and allows practitioners to make informed decisions in treating patients. The papers highlight how many types of evidence are required to have a complete understanding. However, systematic reviews can also be very useful in helping us understand best practice in healthcare.
