Through my time as CFO-in-training, I’ve learned so much about the role of the CFO. We discussed the responsibilities of the CFO in overseeing financial operations such as forecasting and budgeting. Furthermore, I was able to find out more about the risk management methods used by CFOs to safeguard their organization from possible financial losses due market volatility and other unforeseen situations.

Aside from accounting principles, such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles or GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), I also have knowledge that helps ensure the accurate reporting and analysis. I am now familiar with different types of financial statements including balance sheets & income statements; which can be used to assess the performance & health of companies over time.

In addition, this class has provided me with a greater understanding around topics such as mergers & acquisitions – helping me gain insight into important considerations when considering such decisions along with applicable methods/models that can be employed to evaluate potential outcomes.

Overall, taking FIN 645 has proven to be extremely beneficial towards my future career aspirations as it has given me a comprehensive overview of what is expected from CFOs within different industries & how they must effectively manage resources while still making sound strategic decisions going forward.
